Our Story

Common Ground Spirits

On a mission to cultivate artisanal spirits that symbolize the human experience of bonding and forming connections, Tory Brown and Julian Peebles founded Common Ground Spirits. We believe that finding a common ground with those around us is what adds substance and meaning to our lives. Our common ground is the belief that everybody, no matter race, religion, color, or sexual orientation should have equal opportunities in all aspects of life – and we want our premium craft spirits to speak for itself.

Common Ground Spirits searches for the highest quality ingredients. Keeping the ingredients in our gin and bourbon variations from within our state, known for food and beverage, is highly important to us. Our spirits have been formulated with this assistance of Ryan Sutherland of Sutherland Distilling Company located in Livermore, California. Gin 01 and Gin 02 both incorporate hand-selected blends of locally sourced botanicals and of the best quality. Common Grounds Spirits aims to supply not only quality, artisanal spirits, but memories and experiences for our consumers through our Gin and Bourbon varieties.

Julian and Tory, coworkers turned lifelong friends, started their journey in the tech industry. Both founders shared common ground with each other by being men of color in this industry. After a successful career in this field, they felt a strong desire to build a legacy, something of their own fruition and creative vision, that can be passed on to their future generations and other black-owned businesses. Common Grounds Spirits’ overall vision is to make a positive impact in the spirits industry through creating a company that takes pride in their representation and diversity. Common Ground Spirits has an overall vision to mentor and motivate other black-owned companies in the future as the spirits industry continues to grow.
